Welcome to Nurse to Nomad travel blog!
Let’s adventure together.
Hi, I’m Danielle!
Of all the things you could be browsing on the internet, I’m glad you’ve found your way here.
I hope I can inspire you to travel the world. Or just your own city. Travel can be difficult, and sometimes making the leap to plan an adventure can be the hardest part. I want to break down the barriers that keep you from doing what you truly want to do. I hope I can give you advice that will help you plan adventures. And lead you to trips that will change you in the best ways. I hope I can give you detailed information that puts you at ease and makes you feel like you CAN go do anything. I hope I can help you travel in a cheap way, with a kind heart, and with an emphasis on the outdoors. And I hope I can help you to love your life a little more.
I remember being in high school, thinking about how un-exciting (can I say “boring”?) my life was. There’s a line from Beauty and the Beast when Belle sings, “I want adventure in the great wide somewhere. I want it more than I can tell.” Disney just got me. I wanted to go places, see things, feel my heart pound, be in nature, take risks, fall in love with the sun and the moon and the people on this earth. Luckily, high school me grew up and realized that I could be an adventurer. I realized that I didn’t need a ton of money or that much courage for it. I just needed to have passion to do what I love.
I hope you have that passion too.
As much as I sometimes wish I could be a full-time traveler, I am a nurse. I feel called to do this. To help people in their most vulnerable times. To show them kindness always. To try to make a tiny difference in their days. Nursing is a really tough job sometimes, but I work with such compassionate coworkers and some of the strongest patients.
I have been living in Longmont, Colorado for 2 years. I love this town. I love being close to the mountains and having views of Longs Peak everyday.
I also love to travel.
I have traveled abroad, been a travel nurse in the states, and consider myself a nomad at heart. I have lived in Ohio, South Carolina, Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas, Minnesota, and Tennessee, and spent time in many other states. I have visited England, Wales, Australia, Nicaragua, Iceland, Canada, Aruba, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Uganda, and Chile. I have a bucket list of other places to see that will never be blank.
I have a husband named Kyle, a toddler named Jovie, and a mac n cheese Jeep named Noodle. You can usually find me running, reading, hiking, camping, backpacking, traveling (this should be a given), or drinking beer on a patio.
This blog focuses on outdoor travel, backpacking, hiking, and running. Now that I have a toddler and am experiencing life with her, you can find posts about toddler travel too.
Thanks for being here.
